How can I take multiple pictures in one shot?

Answer:

Creating a multiple exposure picture with a film camera used to be pretty easy. However, creating one with a digital camera is a lot harder and there are only a few digital cameras that allow you to create multiple exposed pictures in-camera using a special camera mode. I believe that some Nikon DSLR's as well as the Fujifilm Finepix S1 and S2 have multiple exposure settings.
If your digital camera does not have a special multiple exposure mode then you have a couple of other options for creating multiple exposures. The first requires that photos be taken in a very dark environment. With this method, you simply set your shutter speed to several seconds or even blub mode. Then using either a flash or some other light source you light your subject at different times throughout the exposure. This can produce what appears to be an image that has been exposed multiple times when it really has not. The problem with this method is that it is very limited as to when it can be used.
The best way to get multiple exposed images with any digital camera is to combine several images in Photoshop. With today’s software editing programs it is very easy to combine several pictures together into one. Editing to create images that appear to be multiple exposures taken at the same time is fairly easy and can produce high-quality results. It also allows the photographer or photo editor to almost complete control over the photo. With the ease of combining several pictures into one using photo editing software, having a multiple exposure mode on the camera is not that important which is likely why many camera manufacturers do not include that feature.
